The Pinterest mobile app needed a refreshed home feed as it had gotten clunky and discouraged new account sign ups. Simplifying and customizing the home feed and pins that were saved would allow users to find their own pins faster. I approached the idea that allowing users without accounts to still browse Pinterest and access the linked pins would account for user growth once people saw how user friendly it was.
Project Objectives:
The Pinterest mobile app user experience has gotten clunky and discourages use. The home page no longer shows details of activity from friends and those users follow; therefore, the app is not encouraging any social aspects. The home page is not customizable - this is an issue since the entire app is about pinning ideas and inspiration in a customizable manner. It also does not take you immediately to a user's profile page with their pins. Some users would prefer that if they want to reference their boards and pins for a specific project. The mobile app is not user friendly to non-account holders. A majority of google search results end at Pinterest, but if you do not have an account, you cannot see the final website or image.
Proposed Solutions:
*Home page social feed would be redesigned to include the specific friend that pinned an idea or inspiration, instead of just a feed of images with no words or categories shown.

*Home page would can be customized between two options instead of the default image-based feed. The first is a social feed that shows what a user's friends on Pinterest have been pinning, with specific details instead of just images. The second, would be the users own Pinterest profile page with their boards and pins organized.

*Home page will also include an easier search function, or a search jumping off point (i.e. if you aren't sure what you're looking for specifically but you are interested in "kitchen renovation" that would be a topic you could delve into, with possible subtopics)

*Non-account users would be able to access all search related aspects of the Pinterest mobile app, including end results that take you to another website or blog. This will encourage more use as many people end up on Pinterest occasionally from google but do not want to make an account. If they find it helpful instead of restrictive, it could encourage more non-account users to eventually sign up.
The final redesign of the log in screen, home page, profile page, and settings.
